​Equinox is a ketch-rigged wooden sailboat designed in 1947 by L. Francis Herreshoff. Her construction is more recent, having begun on May 31 of 1987. The engine-driven mastless hull and deck was launched on March 11, 2000, but rig and interior work continued until departure for her first cruise on May 17, 2005.

Due to the owner/builder's increasing age and decreasing energy, Equinox is now (sadly) up for sale. At $39,000, she is just a bit over the $1000/foot benchmark for smaller and much less seaworthy boats.
